Traffic delays are nothing new. Neither is the reduced productivity that results from those delays. Using anonymous data from a mobile phone network the Intellione ioTraffic System turns routine network signaling data from mobile phones into live roadway speeds and traffic information.
The Intellione ioTraffic System measures traffic on virtually all roads while many other systems only cover select major thoroughfares. The ioTraffic System views the millions of mobile phones and GPS devices moving along roadways as traffic probes. Those traffic probes report their anonymous locations frequently — up to twice each second. Our patented algorithms then determine in real time the paths traveled by each traffic probe in order to measure their individual speeds. Roadway speeds are then averaged across lanes, aggregated and smoothed to produce travel times from one location to another. When compared to loop detectors, radar sensors and other field measurement equipment, ioTraffic accuracy is equivalent or in many cases, better.
